Our People Dr Maheswaran Sridaran Principal Sridaran (which is his own name, though it is written at the end, and Maheswaran, which is written first, is his family name) is a chartered accountant and registered tax agent with extensive experience in tax, accounting, auditing, and financial and business management. Over a period of 30 years, Sridaran has worked with some of the world's leading accounting firms in several countries. He holds a doctorate from Macquarie University. His doctoral thesis dealt with the Australian income tax on capital gains. Sridaran also holds a master of taxation degree from the University of New South Wales. In Australia, Sridaran has worked in senior tax positions at WHK Horwath, Sydney (Australia's fifth-largest accounting firm, now known as Crowe Horwath) and Krochmalik & Hurwitz Pty Ltd (a firm of chartered accountants in the city of Sydney, which was acquired by WHK Horwath, Sydney). For nearly three years (until the beginning of 2010), Sridaran was a full-time academic at Macquarie University, Sydney, where he taught final-year undergraduate students Australian tax law, corporations law and business law. During that time, he served as the joint-convener of the Australian tax law course. Before his immigration to Australia (some 16 years ago), Sridaran worked in senior positions (including as head of a national tax practice) for Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and Ernst & Young in four countries: Sri Lanka, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. Sridaran is the chief quality controller of the practice, and accepts overall responsibility for the quality of all services provided by the practice and for the proper fulfillment of all expectations of its clients He has regularly contributed articles The Australian Financial Review and The Sydney Morning Herald, as well as to leading specialist tax professional journals in Australia. His first book on Australian tax policy titled Are Capital Gains Equitably Taxed in Australia? ? was published in late 2012. He regularly contributes papers on tax policy to the think tanks, McKell Institute and the Chifley Research Centre, based in Sydney.
Ms Niroshi Rathnayakage Senior Accountant CPA (Australia) ACA (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka) BSc Management (University of Sri Jayewardenapura, Sri Lanka) Previous to her immigration to Australia, Niroshi worked for nearly 10 years as an accountant in Sri Lanka, latterly for one of the largest fund managers of that country. Early in her career, Niroshi worked as an auditor at Ernst & Young in Sri Lanka. Niroshi, who holds a bachelors degree in management from the University of Sri Jayewardenapura, Sri Lanka, is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
Ms Samantha Mullins Accountant Bachelor of Commerce (University of Wollongong) Samantha has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Wollongong. She majored in accounting, with a business law minor. Previous to joining our firm in November 2012, Samantha worked for some months in sales and marketing roles. At our firm, Samantha carries out accounting and tax compliance work, and works under close supervision of the firm's principal. Samantha is currently studying to gain membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia. |
